ESL Accommodation
If English is NOT your native language, you can request an extra 30 minutes at no cost. Request the "ESL +30" accommodation through your AWS Certification account BEFORE scheduling the exam. This gives you valuable extra time to read and process longer scenario questions.

2. Question Reading Strategy

The 3-Step Question Strategy:

Step 1: READ THE LAST SENTENCE FIRST
  The last sentence contains the actual question.
  "Which solution meets these requirements?"
  "What should the architect recommend?"
  "Which approach is MOST cost-effective?"
  Know WHAT they’re asking BEFORE reading the scenario.

Step 2: IDENTIFY KEYWORDS IN THE SCENARIO
  Keywords signal the answer:
    "Serverless"      → Lambda, Fargate, DynamoDB
    "Cost-effective"  → cheapest option that works
    "Minimal effort"  → managed service, least code change
    "Highly available" → Multi-AZ, ASG, Aurora
    "Lowest latency"  → CloudFront, Global Accelerator, ElastiCache, DAX
    "Decouple"        → SQS, SNS, EventBridge
    "Real-time"       → Kinesis, not batch
    "Zero downtime"   → Blue/Green deployment
    "Least privilege"  → IAM, resource policy, most restrictive

Step 3: ELIMINATE WRONG ANSWERS FIRST
  Cross out answers that violate keywords or requirements.
  Usually, 2 answers are clearly wrong, leaving 2 to decide between.
  Pick the one that best matches ALL requirements.

4. Answer Elimination Techniques

  1. Eliminate services that don’t exist: AWS sometimes uses fake service names or features. If you’ve never heard of it in study, it’s likely wrong.
  2. Eliminate anti-patterns: INSERT into Redshift (use COPY), HDFS for persistent data (use S3), single AZ for HA, SSH via bastion (use Session Manager).
  3. Eliminate over-engineering: If a simpler solution meets ALL requirements, the complex one is wrong. "Least operational overhead" = simplest.
  4. Eliminate cost violators: If the question says "cost-effective," eliminate the most expensive options first even if they technically work.
  5. Eliminate security violators: If the question mentions security, eliminate options that use public access, unencrypted channels, or overly permissive IAM.
  6. "All of the above" trick: If you can confirm 2 out of 3 answers are correct in a multiple-response question, the third is likely also correct.

Testing Center

  1. Arrive 15–30 minutes early. Bring two forms of ID (one with a photo).
  2. No personal items in testing room: no phone, watch, wallet, notes, or food.
  3. You CAN request earplugs or noise-canceling headphones.
  4. Scratch paper or a whiteboard is provided for notes during the exam.
  5. Take a break if needed: raise your hand (time keeps running).


Online Proctored

  1. Test from home or office. Requires: webcam, microphone, stable internet.
  2. Clear your desk completely. No second monitors. No one else in the room.
  3. System check required before exam (install Pearson VUE software).
  4. Test your setup the day BEFORE the exam to avoid tech issues.
  5. Cannot leave the camera view during the exam. No bathroom breaks.

7. After the Exam

  1. Preliminary result: Pass/Fail shown immediately on screen after submitting.
  2. Detailed score: available in your AWS Certification account within 1–5 business days.
  3. Score report: shows performance per domain (identifies weak areas if you need to retake).
  4. Digital badge: issued via Credly within days. Share on LinkedIn.
  5. 50% discount voucher: for your next exam (any certification). Valid for a specific period.
  6. If you fail: wait 14 days before retaking. Review weak domains. Focus on practice exams there.
Important Warning
If you fail, DO NOT be discouraged. Many people pass on the second attempt. Use the score report to identify exactly which domains were weak. Focus your study there. Take more practice exams in those areas. The 14-day wait gives you time to close the gaps.

8. Final Pre-Exam Checklist

48 Hours Before Exam:

  ✓ Take a final practice exam. Score 80%+?

  ✓ Skim decision tables one more time
  ✓ Get a good night’s sleep (2 nights before matters most!)

  Morning of Exam:

  ✓ Take deep breaths. You’ve prepared. You’re ready.

  During Exam:
